Beneficial Bacteria

Rhizobium

Rhizobium is a genus and comprises several species. It is a Gram-negative, motile, non-sporulating rods bacteria. Combines nitrogen with oxygen to produce ammonia, which is essential in the process of photosynthesis. These are unique in that they are the only nitrogen-fixing bacteria living in a symbiotic relationship with legumes. Common crop and forage legumes are peas, beans, clover, and soy.
