Remarks: Gujarat Biodiversity Gene Bank is an initiative of Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat for preservation of floral, faunal and microbial biodiversity. Gujarat holds a very unique position in biodiversity spread because of its geographical situate and spread. One of the prime mandates of BioGene is conservation of biodiversity of Gujarat. Microbes being key components of the lives and a magic tool box of potentials, essentially needs no justification for conservation.
